Either way, it meant I didn’t get to go running around the country giving talks and readings. But that will all soon change with the publication of When the Music’s Over. It’s early days yet, but one or two things have come up already. First off, publication dates: When the Music’s Over will be published in the UK on 14th July, 2016, in the USA on 9th August, and in Canada on 25th October. On Friday, 15th April, I have an event with Giles Blunt and David Carpenter at the Prince Edward County Authors Festival, in Picton, Ontario. The event runs between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and consists of interviews and brief readings. From 1st to 5th June I will be at the Crime Festival in Wroclaw, Poland, where I am to receive the Great Calibre Award of Honour along with Tess Gerritson and Pierre Lemaitre. This award ‘is presented not for certain book, but for authorship. Previous laureates of the Great Calibre Award of Honour were: Joanna Chmielewska, Marek Krajewski (two most popular authors of crime fiction in Poland), Jeffery Deaver, Boris Akunin, Alexandra Marinina, Leonid Jozefowicz, Jo Nesb?, Maj Sj?wall, Anne Holt, Kathy Reichs, Walter Mosley, Henning Mankell (he could not come to the festival because of his illness) and H?kan Nesser.’ Having never been to Poland before, I’m really looking forward to my visit! On 9th July I’m appearing at the St Albans Literary Festival in the UK, possibly with David Mark. From 17th to 20th August I will be at the Crimetime Festival, on the island of Gotland, just off the coast of Sweden. It’s an international festival and among the others appearing will be Sharon Bolton, Elizabeth Hand, Camilla L?ckberg, Arne Dahl, Johan Theorin, J?rn Lier Horst, H?kan Nesser, Maria Jungstedt and Mons Kallentoft. On 10th September at 7pm I’m appearing at the Bloody Scotland crime festival in Stirling, Scotland. I have a new short story called ‘The Blackbird’ appearing in an anthology called Crime + Music Noir, edited by Jim Fusilli and published by Three Rooms Press this autumn. And finally, the fifth season of DCI Banks is in production right now, filming in Leeds and various parts of Yorkshire, starring Stephen Tompkinson, Andrea Lowe, Caroline Catz and Jack Deam. None of the three stories presented over six one hour episodes was based on any of the Banks novels or short stories, and I think you can expect a few surprises this time around. The series shows on ITV in the UK later this year. Posted on April 7, 2016 by admin Coming Soon: The New DCI Banks Novel, When the Music’s Over The new DCI Banks book by Number One bestseller Peter Robinson has the team investigating two highly contemporary crimes – each echoing and illuminating the other.
